EXCELLENT Based on 162 reviews Posted on Matt SandovalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Devon did a fantastic job with our dog. We started noticing improvement after just the consultation, but throughout the training our pup just kept doing better and better. He was flexible and able to work around our schedule, but also considerate of the weather and the dog's needs. I will recommend Devon every chance I get. He has a gift with dogs, and he's happy to share it. Anyone would be lucky to work with him.Posted on A SonnierTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have a high-energy Aussie puppy, and Devon was incredible to work with. He is patient, knowledgeable, and helped us build consistent training habits that made a huge difference! Our puppy picked up the training quickly thanks to his clear guidance. Devon was super flexible with scheduling, which made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!!Posted on Sabrina ScangaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommend working with Devon! Devon has been an incredible help with our newly adopted Catahoula. We didn’t have a lot of history given to us upon adoption and Devon and his team showed up with professionalism, lots of knowledge and experience and helped us build confidence with developing a strong relationship with our pup. We’re going to continue looking into what other services he provides. Highly trustworthy and skilled.Posted on James ClarkTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't express enough gratitude to Devon for giving my family our life back. We panicked when our older dachshund struggled to accept our new puppy. It felt urgent like an urgent issue to us, and Devon's response was immediate and reassuring. Not only did Devon get our dogs playing together, he also made my partner and I better dog owners by teaching us what we were doing wrong. Devon has a great demeanor with dogs, and both of ours enjoy him very much. We look forward to continuing to work with Devon in the future.Posted on Amirta ClarkTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Devon is worth every penny!!! We already had a four year old dachshund named Toby. We brought home a puppy in the middle of June and our little boy absolutely did not like the new puppy. We were so heart broken! I called Devon on a Saturday morning and he was at out place by 11am, same day! From the moment he started working with the dogs we knew that he was the real deal :) Our little Toby absolutely loved Devon! We worked with Devon, Toby and the puppy for about two weeks before we realized that us, and our anxiousness, were standing in the way of their progress. Toby spent four days at Devon's place learning to play with other dogs. Devon sent us lots of updates and plenty of videos. After four days he brought Toby back and within 20 minutes he had Toby and the puppy playing like they were best friends! It was amazing! We are also continuing to work with Devon on Toby's walking and his barking. We can't recommend Devon enough! He is just an amazing human and he really knows dogs! Giving up was never a thought for us, but we are so thankful to have Devon in our lives. Thank you for giving us our family back :)Posted on Madelyn SifuentesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our dog did the aggressive boot camp with Devon. She was not good around other dogs or kids and we were afraid we were going to have to get rid of her before our baby arrives. She is doing so well around kids now and ignores other dogs on walks!Posted on Gayle KeeferTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have a 15 month old bernadoodle named Bergie who is quite the handful. We had issues with him escaping & running away. He has improved on his “wait” command which has helped, and also is more calm & less reactive than before. He no longer steals clothes from the hamper or laundry from the dryer. Another issue was constant whining while riding in the car in a crate. Thankfully, this is no longer an issue since spending time with Devon and his staff. Overall, the few weeks spent at the facility resulted in a better behaved dog that we can all enjoy as a part of our lives knowing he was well cared for. The way he loves Devon shows the positive reinforcement received while away from home. I was very worried not knowing what to expect, but would encourage anyone to enlist their canine puppy with Devon. He loves the animals & they love him….as my husband said, “He has a special connection with the animals that makes his success rate possible.” We are grateful for the positive changes in our homePosted on Steve MargaroniTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. NEVER GIVE UP We rescued a 9-month-old male Bernese Mountain Dog named Charlie to join our family and to be buddies with our other 5-year-old male Berner. Charlie had a sad story: his entire 9-month-old life was spent in a crate for 20+ hours/day. He received no exercise, socialization, care or love. He was only let out to go potty and put right back in. Thankfully, his owner moved overseas and put Charlie into Northern California Bernese Rescue. When we got him, he was cautious but fit into our family well. However, after a few weeks, he began to show signs of aggressive resource guarding. We found a trainer (NOT Devons K-9) and put Charlie in a 3-week board and train program. When we got him back, he had better basic obedience, but the aggression/resource guarding got worse. The trainer typically trains police and attack dogs, and uses an e-collar to correct bad behavior. With Charlie it had a negative impact that made the situation worse. All he was trying to do was be a puppy (since he was robbed of his real puppyhood). For example, if anyone in the family came home, Charlie would get excited and want to greet us. According to the trainer, he should only do so if he was ‘released’ and if he didn’t listen, “pop him” with the e-collar. Sadly, this method of correction escalated to where, on separate occasions, Charlie bit our son, my wife and myself. We contacted the trainer, and he said we were giving him too much freedom and needed to be stricter. At this point we knew we couldn’t live with him like this but didn’t know what to do. DEVON TO THE RESCUE There was absolutely no way we were going to euthanize Charlie (it wasn’t his fault). We began to investigate sanctuaries as an option and came across Devon’s K-9 Training as a temporary boarding solution while we figured everything out. Devon explained that he could board Charlie but asked why we would send him to a sanctuary after he had the opportunity to work with Charlie. He said, with a high degree of certainty, that he could correct the aggression issues and he could again live happily ever after with us. As you can imagine we were skeptical. After further discussion he told us that the prior method of training (correcting negative behavior with an e-collar) was the opposite of what Charlie needed. He needed positive reinforcement for making good decisions, not negative corrections for making the bad ones. A week after talking to Devon he flew from Colorado out to Sacramento (where we live) to get Charlie and take him back to Colorado. He sent us updates almost daily of Charlies progress. After about 3-weeks he said Charlie was ready to come back home. He could sense that we were nervous and simply not ready to take him back so soon and offered to keep him as long as needed until we were ready. One month later we felt much more comfortable and scheduled their return trip. He flew back and spent 6-days showing us how to work with Charlie. Not only did Charlie love Devon (I think more than us :-)) but he was a different dog. He was happy and responded enthusiastically and without any issues. Fast forward ….. it’s been 6-weeks since Charlie came back home. He is living his best life and doing amazingly well. Honestly, beyond our expectations. He is so motivated with positive reinforcement that he intentionally gets into mischief now just so he can make a good decision and get rewarded We will always be somewhat cautious as this little guy had a terrible experience with his first owner. But, he now knows he is in a safe place, full of love without the fear of negative punishment. We cannot thank Devon and his staff enough for the love, patience and care they gave to Charlie. We believe it’s fate that both Charlie and Devon came into our lives. Had they not, it’s likely that Charlie would not have been given a second chance at life.Posted on Kristen HitnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I give Devon my highest recommendation! He is clearly passionate about dogs and can read them like a book - it is amazing to see him interact with them.
